Avery Bradley, back in Boston for his latest youth basketball camp spoke to the media earlier in the week about the upcoming season. This is the time of the off-season that every player dreams big, Bradley expressed what he believed in, that returning Celtics players believe they are capable of improving this upcoming season.
“A lot of people might say that, ‘We can’t be this, we can’t be that.’ I feel like with the coach that we have, we can be anything that we want to be. We just have to listen to Brad Stevens and buy into what he’s trying to do, his plan for us. I feel like we have a chance to make the playoffs and make a lot of noise this year if we listen to Brad.”
Bradley also had words to say about new rookie Marcus Smart and the defensive presence the team can bring.
“Everyone keeps telling me that Marcus is a great defender and … I’m excited about that,” said Bradley. “Because Rondo is a great defender as well. Last year, he still played great defense, but this year I feel like he’s going to take it to an even different level. I feel like we have a chance to be a top-10 defensive team in the NBA this year.”
Some may agree with Bradley’s words and some may not. The Celtics have definitely improved defensively and offensively this off-season but the critics still remain from their previous predictions of last season with the Celtics installed for another rebuilding season and no playoff presence. Rajon Rondo coming back off an ACL tear and accordingly already %100 healthy will have to be the one to lead the team for another playoff push and the new additions will really have to step out for any hope.
