The former Syracuse standout was a part of the 2024 NBA Championship team in Boston. He appeared in 55 games for the Cs, playing about 11.5 minutes in each outing. Brissett averaged 3.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game while shooting 44.4% from the field and 27.3% from beyond the arc.
While he didn’t have a consistent role within head coach Joe Mazzulla’s rotation, Brissett could always be relied on to play hard anytime he was on the floor. Most notably, his Game 2 performance against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals exemplified that. The Ontario native played just 12 minutes, yet managed to rip off three steals during the team’s 20-0 run in the first half.
Oshae Brissett will now have a role that the Celtics weren't able to offer him
His time with the Celtics came to an end last summer, when he declined his player option for the 2024-25 season. The 27-year-old had hoped another NBA team would offer him a larger role than what he had in Boston, but an offer never came.
He eventually joined the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G-League affiliate, in January, before inking a 10-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in March. The 27-year-old wing suited up in six games for the Sixers, averaging 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per contest on 48.7% from the field and 33.3% from long range.
After a six-year NBA career with the Celtics, 76ers, Pacers, and Toronto Raptors, Brissett may finally find the expanded role he’s been looking for next season with Tel Aviv.
"We are very happy that Oshae is joining us," said Maccabi coach Oded Katash in the club’s official release on the signing. "He's a tough player who brings energy and will contribute to us on both ends of the court, has a lot of experience and has been part of a winning team. We look forward to seeing him integrate quickly and help us achieve our goals."
Brissett will join a Maccabi squad that hopes to bounce back after a 16th place (out of 18 total teams) in the EuroLeague last season. The Tel Aviv club logged a record of just 11-23 after three years of finishing in Europe’s top seven.
