The Memphis Grizzlies took care of business at home in a game of dissolving leads against a short handed Boston Celtics team. The Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol didn’t play tonight, but they didn’t need him. Courtney Lee and Kevin Garnett being out seemed significant enough. The Celtics needed a larger presence on the inside and out.
The Celtics were outrebounded 44-37 including 16 offensive rebounds. The Grizzlies killed the C’s with second chance opportunities and forced turnovers. At the end of the game, the C’s caught fire as Memphis’ offense began to slow down and the Celtics
Jerryd Bayless was the top performer of the night with 28 points on only 20 shots. Paul Pierce gave an outstanding effort with 26 points on 17 shots, but it wasn’t enough. He was pulled out of the game with about eight minutes left to go when it seemed as though the Celtics were out of it. Late in the game, Boston started to make a run but it proved to be too late.
The Celtics close out a road trip in a largely disappointing fashion. They lost four games in a row in disappointing fashion. After blowing two double digit leads in Miami, they also lost a close game to a bottom feeder New Orleans Hornets team. Follow that with a loss to the Mavericks last night and that brings us to today.

They’ll face the New York Knicks on Tuesday evening in the TD Garden for a much-needed home game. They’ll have a chance to put all of the woes from this miserable road trip to bed.
