Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Phoenix Suns are after Iman Shumpert. The Suns are reportedly offering Jared Dudley and a possible future first rounder. What year that pick would be has not been disclosed.
Shumpert just returned from a torn ACL only 11 games ago. He’s averaged 5.6 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game this season. The Suns passed up on Shumpert in the 2011 NBA draft when they picked Markieff Morris up from the Kansas Jayhawks.
Shumpert is widely known around the league as one of the most fearsome defensive stoppers. His ACL recovery has slowed him down a bit, but he’s still as talented on that side of the ball as anyone.
Woj reports that the Knicks aren’t really looking to deal Shumpert in the near future. In order to get him the Suns may need to sweeted the deal. Jared Dudely and a future first round prospect are very valuable, but the Knicks are a team that needs to win right now. Shumpert is a key part to their puzzle and the Knicks aren’t just going to be willing to part ways with him so easily.
