Celtics To Rest Starters Against Hawks

Fresh off of clinching their fifth straight Atlantic Division title, the Celtics have chosen to rest up for the postseason rather than rallying for an improved playoff seed. With the age and health of the roster, you cannot really blame them.

Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Mickael Pietrus remained in Boston for the final road trip of the season. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce traveled with the team, but will not participate in tonight’s game.

Father Time is a far greater opponent that any team in the East and Doc Rivers knows this. The Celtics are coming off of a horrid stretch of games and came through relatively unscathed. Any additional reset the team can sock away will only help them in the long run. This 66-game condensed season does not have many days of rest built in and you have to take advantage of the opportunities as they present themselves.

The starting lineup will most likely feature Avery Bradley, Keyon Dooling, Sasha Pavlovic, Brandon Bass and Greg Stiemsma.
