Back From The Dead?

Are the Celtics for real? Should I put all my eggs in the basket believing a team that stepped up in the second half against the 76ers is ready to make a playoff run……well, maybe or at least it is encouraging.

Let’s face it, this team was never going to lead wire to wire and even though they seemed like they would at times, we need the Celtics to be healthy enough to make a playoff run, period. They are to old and banged up to play at a high level on a nightly basis. Would you rather an early April blowout of a horrible Detroit Pistons team or a couple of key playoff wins in June?

The Celtics showed us something last night, whatever Doc says at halftime seems to be working. The Celtics started the second half on a 9-0 run and shut the 76ers down almost completely allowing them to score a mere 32 points over the course of the second half. The lock down also meant extended minutes for the second and third units allowing the starters to get some of that valuable late season rest that they so desperately need at this point of the season.

Nenad Krsitc made his return from injury chipping in with 8 points and 6 rebounds allowing starter Jermaine O’Neal to make a contribution whilst still getting back into NBA game shape.

Jeff Green and Paul Pierce each grabbed 7 boards a piece and Rajon Rondo controlled the offense with 13 dimes whilst adding 16 points.

Like a true Boston fan, I think the worst with each loss and think they are going to win a championship with each win. Could be worse, they could have started the season on a 4 game losing streak like the Red Sox. Yikes.
