The Boston Celtics rebounded nicely with a win Sunday night in Toronto against a struggling raptors squad. The Celtics veteran-laden lineup over matched the younger more athletic Raptors as the cruised to a 93-79 victory.
Rajon Rondo was able to make his first appearance since suffering a severe ankle sprain and at times looked like his old self and at times looked like a player that had been on the shelf for 2 weeks with an ankle injury. Rondo’s stat line will show 33 minutes played with 4 points, 8 assists and 5 turnovers, but his presence back in the starting lineup is worth so much more. The C’s have been reeling lately with all the injuries and need to rack up as many wins as possible during this tumultuous stretch.
Glen Davis was 2 assists from his first career triple double and rebounded nicely after starting the game missing 6 of his first 7 shots. Paul Pierce had a game high 30 points and seemed to appreciate settling back into his role of scorer rather than having to pick up some extra slack whilst Rondo was injured. Ray Allen chipped in with 23 and the entire team shot 54% from the field.
The Celtics host the Timberwolves tonight at TD Bank North Garden as they look for back to back wins in back to back nights.
