We are slowly approaching the NBA trade deadline today at 3pm EST. So far today there have been enough rumors to make me dizzy. As I try to get a grasp of what’s going on I also have to decide what information is reliable enough to put on the site. Finally it seems as though a deal is finally complete involving the Knicks, Rockets, and Kings.
According to multiple sources the Knicks are recieving Tracy McGrady and Sergio Rodriguez, both players who are expected to help the team make a strong push towards the playoffs. The Rockets will bring a much needed scorer into their lineup with the addition of Kevin Martin. They will also recieve Jordan Hill and Jerod Jefferies. The final piece of the puzzle sends Larry Hughes, Carl Landry, and Joey Dorsey to the Sacramento Kings. Confusing? Yes very.
Here is the official word from ESPN’s Marc Stein:
The Houston Rockets have unexpectedly emerged from their long-running efforts to trade Tracy McGrady with an agreement in place to acquire coveted guard Kevin Martin from the Sacramento Kings, ESPN.com has learned.
I reported late last night that the Kings acquisition of McGrady was quite interesting, but not as interesting as it would be if he was headed to the “Big Apple”. Well now it gets very interesting with T-Mac headed to the Knicks, this could help them make a strong push towards one of the last playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
As more information is available from today’s trade deadline we will make sure to report it to you as soon as possible. For now this is the one big move so far today.
