Yesterdays Poll Results: “Rajon Rondo is the deciding factor to if the Celtics win Banner 18 because the offense lives and dies by his play.”
Being named a starter in the all star game is an honor for every player who receives the position. Whether that means they are one of the most popular players, or one of the most talented players is quite irrelevant. While the players feel it is a privilege to play in this game, precautionary measures should be taken as it is only an exhibition game. This is no place for a player to go out in get injured, putting his teams future on the line. At the same time, there is debate over when it is okay for a player to claim they are injured and unable to play. That may be unacceptable to hear as a fan, because you want one game where all of the best athletes are on the floor at the same time. Kevin Garnett is in that situation this year, as he is having lingering issues with his knee. Those days off around the all star break would be a perfect time for him to take off and get rested for the 2nd half of the season.
