Antoine Walker Wiggles Into More Trouble

After playing a somewhat successful career in a Boston Celtics uniform Antoine Walker has only gone down hill since. Following his play in Boston he played in Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, and Minnesota but was never more than a bench player. Since having his contract bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies nothing positive has come out of Antoine. He has recently been in trouble for drunk driving and gambling debts that total close to one million dollars. Today more negative news came out about Antoine.

According to the Chicago Tribune apartment buildings managed by two of  Walker’s companies, Walker Ventures LLC and AW Realty LLC, failed to meet public safety requirements. The Tribune released the following report:

Walker Ventures LLC and AW Realty LLC, two real estate companies that list Walker as the principal, are the target of more than a dozen lawsuits alleging poor property management, unpaid debts and damages caused by shoddy repair work.”

A 'hulking public nuisance'

The only thing this can mean is more financial trouble for Walker, a guy who earned around $110 million dollars in his NBA career. Some of the problems in these buildings include mold infestation, insect infestation, poor electrical work, and sewage leaks from pipes. I couldn’t imagine living in any of these conditions, if I was paying money to live here I would be suing Walker as well. Walker stated that these living conditions were not intended on his part, and he stated that he put too much trust in other people to maintain the buildings.

“A lot of financial mistakes throughout my career, and putting trust in other people. I would like to humbly apologize to everyone who has been affected by the failings of my company. It was never intended to present [tenants with] unacceptable living conditions.”

The biggest problem I have with this is how it affected Chicago’s youth and less fortunate people in the area. Walker being a million dollar athlete should be able to maintain these properties, and help these people with ease. If Walker really is in as much financial trouble as we think I have a feeling he will try to make a run back into the NBA.

As a Celtics fan I will say PASS on behalf of Danny Ainge and his staff. For one we don’t need another three point shooting machine, and two we don’t need a guy who’s primary focus won’t be on winning basketball games. Thanks for your time in Boston Antoine, but you can wiggle somewhere else.
