AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: No Comments

Greg M. Cooper-US Presswire

The Celtics travel to Orlando tonight to complete the early season home and home series with the Orlando Magic. Fresh off the heels of holding the Magic to a franchise-tying-low 56 points, the Celtics look to keep their two-game winning streak alive.

The connections between the two clubs run deep:

Brandon Bass and Glen Davis both attended Louisiana State University.

Daniel Orton, DeAndre Liggins and Rajon Rondo all attended the University of Kentucky.

Great Deals for Tickets to Celtics vs. Pacers

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: No Comments

It’s been a rocky start for the Celtics this season, but with three wins in their last four games it looks like they may have weathered that storm. Friday night will be a big test as the Pacers come to town to face KG and company at TD Garden. Indy has already beaten the Celtics twice this season–both by double figures–so if they’re are going to put that bad start behind them a win on Friday would be big for the Celtics and their fans. Through our ticket partner TIqIQ, you can essentially pick your price via the TiqIQ “make an offer” feature from Score Big. For Friday night’s game, a “4 star” seat that usually goes for $140+ (after all the shipping and handling fees) can be scored for an offer of $60. But you need to make a fast break for this ticket deal, as it expires at 7pm on Thursday! Make your offer today right here: http://tiqiq.us/75Y

Thank You Big Baby

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: No Comments

The Celtics took time during the first timeout tonight, with 6:44 left in the first quarter, to pay tribute to the one and only Glen “Big Baby” Davis.

Davis chipped in with six points in over 23 minutes of game action and luckily managed to keep his shorts on for the entire time.

In December, the Celtics traded Davis and Von Wafer to the Magic for Brandon Bass. Bass, who was a former LSU teammate of Davis’, led all scorers with 19 points.

There is no question what Davis brought to the Celtics on a nightly basis, the happy go luck attitude went a long way with fans and it was nice to see him back in the fold, even if it was only for a night. It was also quite nice to see the Celtics lay a beat down on the Magic, a win that helped string together a few wins in a row for the green team.

Either way, Davis meant a lot to the fans and club alike, he’ll always have a place in our hearts and we’ll cheer for him whenever he returns, just as long as he never returns in a certain purple and gold combination.

Mickael Pietrus Out With A Shoulder Injury

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: No Comments

Mickael Pietrus will miss Monday’s game with the Orlando Magic with what is being described as a shoulder injury. Pietrus is scheduled to have an MRI tomorrow after what head coach Doc Rivers described as not being able to lift his arm over his head.

Based on the evidence, this is not a good sign. Mickael Pietrus logged 34 minutes of action against the Wizards Sunday and saw his shoulder “flare up” on Monday according to team sources.

The Celtics have been devastated by injury and we are only a few weeks into the season. The Celtics enter tonight’s game down five players and will need to channel a spark from some unlikely sources.

Mickael Pietrus brought an energy to the aging club, an energy that is going to be hard to duplicate given the present state of the roster.

In seven games played this season, Mickael Pietrus has been averaging 8.7 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

Ray Allen Injury Update

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: No Comments

Ray Allen left Sunday’s game in the second quarter with what the team is calling a “Jammed” ankle. X-rays were negative and Allen contemplated returning for the second half.

“Right now there’s pain in the back of the ankle,’’ he said. “If I had my druthers, I would have tried to come back out on the floor and try to work through it. It feels better, but we’ll see by [today].”

The injury does not seem to be as bad as originally feared when fans watched Ray Allen gingerly walk off the floor with the assistance of head trainer Eddie LaCerte.

Allen will attempt to give it a go tonight when the Celtics play host to the Orlando Magic.

On the season, Allen is averaging 14.9 points per game while shooting .563% from three point land.

Rajon Rondo Out Versus Wizards

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: No Comments

Rajon Rondo will miss his second consecutive game today when he sits out the Celtics’ afternoon tilt against the Washington Wizards.

Rondo injured himself Wednesday against the Raptors, MRI results were negative. An official timetable for his return has not yet been set making his status for tomorrow’s game against the Magic uncertain.

Avery Bradley and E’Twaun Moore will share the point guard duties. Bradley had a decent showing against the Suns on Friday, but was terribly inconsistent at times.

As expected, Keyon Dooling and Chris Wilcox will also miss today’s game.

Rajon Rondo Injury Update

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: No Comments

Rondo made the trip to Washington D.C for Sunday’s afternoon tilt against the Wizards. While there has not been a confirmation that Rondo will suit up, this is an encouraging sign that the Celtic spark plug will be able to give it a go.

Rondo missed the Celtics’ 79-71 loss to the Phoniex Suns due to a wrist injury.

The loss of Rondo was clearly evident as the Celtics missed his ability to guide the team up and down the court. Avery Bradley chipped in with ten points and held his own defensively, but he is not quite the point guard that Rondo is.

The Celtics have lost six of their last seven games and clearly need all the help they can get.

On the season, Rondo has been averaging 15 points and 9.4 assists per game.
