Jaylen Brown tries to unite in letter to fans

Jaylen Brown penned a surprising piece in the Guardian urging the public to keep calm despite all of the turmoil being caused by the United States’ seemingly unprepared response to COVID-19. Truly, his words were beautiful and hopefully inspiring. Brown wants the world to respond in a meaningful and thoughtful way; such a way that causes action during a time where inaction seems easy:

"My intention in writing this editorial is to hopefully inspire our society to come together rather than drift farther and farther apart. In the midst of social distancing it is easy to segregate ourselves and our families from the outside world. I challenge you to do the opposite."

Brown listed several different ways in which people can take action in their community:

"Donate to your local food banks, homeless shelters and to those less fortunate in general. Allocate resources to healthcare workers, and other extraordinary workers and unsung heroes during this time. Lend a hand to the families and family members of healthcare workers and those who have lost someone, and are in need of economic support."

Rather than giving a blanket statement on how Americans need to be rise up to the challenge, he outlined things we can all do to fight this pandemic together.

The Boston Celtics are lucky to have such an empathetic future superstar who is wise beyond his years. It’s not hard to cheer for a player who stepped up to the plate and delivered leadership like Brown did yesterday.
