Boston Celtics Daily Dish: Team USA Preview, and More!

Good morning, Boston Celtics fans!

It’s hard to believe that we are still nearly a month away from NBA Training Camps opening up, isn’t it?   This summer would be have been deadly boring if not for the FIBA World Cup.

Speaking of the World Cup: Team USA hopes to finish pool play in unbeaten fashion today against the Ukraine.

Since I don’t have time to get a game preview up, check out either the CBS Sports link above, or this preview courtesy of USA Basketball itself.

Speaking of the Ukraine: you definitely should check out this piece written by Coleman Collins, an American who spent some time playing professionally in the Ukraine.   Should give you a better sense of what the Ukrainian team will be playing for today when it stares down Team USA.

With a team like the San Antonio Spurs enjoying great success with a roster that features many international players, you better believe NBA GMs, scouts, coaches, etc. are taking a keen interest in the FIBA World Cup.  Here are some players whose play in the World Cup might put them on the radar of NBA teams.

Someone complained that I was ignoring the contributions of DeMarcus Cousins in this World Cup.  Sure – a huge University of Kentucky fan such as myself is ignoring Bookie Cousins!  Here’s a piece on why Cousins could be the feel-good story of Team USA’s run.

Finally, the Rajon Rondo story is going to be the focus of the Boston Celtics’ season – so can the Celtics convince Rondo to stay in Boston?

Enjoy, and catch Team USA versus Ukraine at 11:30!
