Good morning/good afternoon, Boston Celtics fans!
It’s a soggy, wet morning at the lake property, which caused me to sleep in a little bit longer than normal. Never fear – I haven’t forgotten you! Just temporarily ignored, is all.
By now, I’m sure the majority of Boston Celtics fans have caught wind of the rumor: Rajon Rondo has reportedly asked to be traded.
During a behind-the-scenes clip of ESPN’s Around the Horn, which the show posted Wednesday on YouTube, the great Jackie MacMullan suggested Rondo has already made it clear he will not stay after his contract expires next summer. (See video below.)
When Frank Isola raised the topic of trading Rondo, MacMullan replied, “Oh, I hope so. Just get it done. And it will happen because he’s told them he wants out. And no one believes me, but that’s the truth.”
Man, if this just another ESPN reporter making these comments, I would scoff . . . but Jackie MacMullan? She doesn’t dabble in unfounded rumors and half-truths. When she speaks, I listen. Suddenly, Rajon Rondo trade rumors have a strong air of credibility.
I have already covered Team USA’s absolute dismantling of Finland in yesterday’s FIBA World Cup action, so here is a rundown of the rest of day one’s international hoop action.
Finally – sorry: it’s not like there’s a ton going on today! – here is a piece that points out why trading Rajon Rondo is going to be very difficult, even if the point guard wants the Celtics to pull the trigger.
