DeMarcus Cousins had a HUGE year this year. He started to grow up, became the leader of a young Sacramento Kings team, and is now a center on Team USA. No doubt, Cousins has came a long way from his rookie year. It’s not his All-Star caliber year that got him in; it’s his maturity level that got him in.
DeMarcus was the guy who would cuss out his teammates and would be a problem for his team if things weren’t going his way. He would get jealous easily and said things out of anger like, Chris Paul is a “cheater”. Now, it appears he is a new man, a guy who would fight for his teammates, a man who let his playing do the talking, and a guy who no longer doesn’t quit on his team when things don’t go his way.
Team USA needed quality, skilled big men to take on Spain. The averages 22.7ppg, 2.9apg, 11.7rpg, 1.5spg, and 1.3bpg definitely did not hurt him being considered.. Even with those averages the guy still somehow missed this year’s all star game, but I would not bet on that this year. This video shows how special a center he is:
All that and more has secured DeMarcus the back-up center role for Team USA. The averages 22.7ppg, 2.9apg, 11.7rpg, 1.5spg, and 1.3bpg definitely did not hurt him.. Even with those averages the guy still somehow missed this year’s All-Star game, but I would not bet on that this year.
