Team USA Set: Time To Make Crazy Stupid Predictions!

Now that the Team USA Men’s Basketball roster has been finalized for the FIBA World Cup, i’s time to start making the sort of predictions that make people want to slap you, hard, repeatedly.

Sure, we could sit here and discuss whether we think Team USA has what it takes to win the tournament – but that would be like debating whether oxygen has what it takes to keep humans alive.

Team USA may not win it all in Spain, but if that happens it will be because of poor team chemistry, injury, natural disaster, or possibly because a coach devises an insanely effective game plan, such as starting seven men to Team USA’s five.  Even without the USA’s best players – LeBron James and Kevin Durant come to mind – the Team USA roster is loaded with current or future All-Stars.   Yes, this team CAN, and probably SHOULD, win the FIBA World Cup.

But that’s why they play the game, right?

At any rate, I will not include the question “Will Team USA win it all?” in the poll below.  Instead, I tried to make some predictions that are a bit obnoxious, because let’s face it, that is how we Americans are heading into this tournament!  Cocky, brash, supremely confident, and a little too fond of our talent and dismissive of much of the rest of the teams that will be challenging Team USA.

It’s all in good fun – I won’t be anywhere near as upset if Team USA loses as I was when the USA Men’s Ice Hockey Team choked in this winter’s Olympics, because the Olympics actually matter! – so don’t flame me in the comments.  Vote, and feel free to debate whether you think Team USA is actually the best team in the tournament below!

How many of the following come true? Pick as many as you like!
