Boston Celtics Daily Dish: No More Waiting Wednesday

Boston Celtics, fans, the wait is almost over.

That’s right: the NBA will announce the 2014-2015 regular season schedule today at 6 p.m.  We’ll break the Boston Celtics’ schedule down six ways ’til Sunday, be certain of that!  But for now, just tune in and start planning your season.

And speaking of waiting: the wait is also over for the Los Angeles Clippers and their fanbase, as Steve Ballmer has completed the purchase of the Clippers

That’s good news for everyone not named Donald Sterling – but what about the Don?  What comes next for him and the NBA?  You didn’t think this was over, did you?

According to the NBA, Steve Ballmer owns the Clippers. According to Donald Sterling, he still has a legal claim to the team. Who do Chris Paul and his teammates now play for?  Who will be signing Doc Rivers’ checks to coach the team?

Odds decidedly favor the NBA’s interpretation, but a late court appeal by Sterling on Tuesday provides further evidence that he will not go down without a long and brutal fight.

I know someone who needs to listen to the Frozen soundtrack right about now . . . . .

(See, there’s a song on it called, “Let It Go,” and – ah, never mind!)

Yesterday, I wrote that Detroit’s Greg Monroe would be happy to sign a qualifying offer, play a season, and then become a free agent next season.  Gosh, it sounds like that’s exactly what he and the Pistons finally decided to do!

Remember that $25,000 fine the NBA slapped on the Toronto Raptors due to rapper’s Drake pitch to Kevin Durant?  Well, it seems like the NBA would have been happy to refund that money to the Raptors . . . under one condition.  Good grief.

Finally, those of you who don’t want to hear trade rumors about the Boston Celtics’ point guard, Rajon Rondo, should love to hear what former Celtics coach Doc Rivers has to say about Rondo’s upcoming season:

Rondo’s going to be great this year . . .  He’s going to be healthy. It’s the following year [after ACL surgery] that you become who you were. So I think Rondo will have a great year. And I think that will be great for the team.

Sweet!  Hope you enjoy the reads!
