Boston Celtics Daily Dish: Friday Afternoon Commute Edition

Welcome to another glorious Friday, Boston Celtics fans!

Sorry to be getting around to these later than usual, but hey – we’ve all got lives, ya know!

I hope you’re all ready to hear the word “dynasty” bandied about, because now that the pairing of Kevin Love with LeBron James in Cleveland seems imminent, that is the sort of hyperbole we will all have to endure, at least for the 2014-2015 season.  Check out this video to hear the first round of many discussion centered around this topic.

The other side of the story – the curse of Kevins and Minnesota – would appear to be that the Timberwolves are getting a hell of a mulligan.  Of course, this franchise couldn’t capitalize on the talents of Love or Kevin Garnett, so how many mulligans do they get?!?

By now you have probably heard that Kevin Durant has removed himself from Team USA – here’s a piece that explains why that was the right decision for KD to make.

Am I the only one who thinks Gatorade’s new League of Captains campaign is idiotic?  Create your athlete superhero – really?

And I know we’re a basketball blog, but weight lifting, track and field, and soccer superheroes are available – but not hockey?  Soccer players are tougher than hockey players now?!?

Sorry for the rant.  Even though my kid loves hockey more, I created one for his current season . . . yes, soccer.

I’m here to tell you: he looks way more bad-ass in his hockey gear.

Good news: Bill Russell made his first public appearance since collapsing in Nevada at the Naismith Hall of Fame Family Reunion Dinner last night.  Sounds like he’s in good spirits, which should put a smile on all of our faces. Last but not least, for those of you who want to see the Boston Celtics rise to the status of the NBA elite, check out Brian Scalabrine’s thoughts on Boston’s Darren Erman, the Celtics’ current director of NBA scouting. Enjoy!
