According to various reports, Vitor Faverani was arrested for drunk driving, following a multiple-vehicle accident in Valencia, Spain.
La Opinion de Malaga is reporting that Faverani, the Boston Celtics back-up center, was three times above the legal blood alcohol limit when he ran a red light and crashed into a bus. Fortunately, it appears that no one was injured. The Celtics are yet to release a statement on the arrest.
Vitor Faverani’s first season in the NBA was cut short by a torn meniscus, and he had been rehabbing in Valencia. He hopes to be near full strength when he returns to Boston in September.
The 26-year-old averaged 4.4 points and 3.5 rebounds, averaging 13.2 minutes per game in 37 appearances last season. Faverani is set to earn $2.1 million next year, but his salary for the 2015-16 season is non-guaranteed. Next season may end up being his last in the NBA.
