Boston Celtics fans: you knew this was going to happen.
As the 2014 NBA Draft draws nearer, the trade rumors are swirling all around us. The latest one involving the Boston Celtics, courtesy of Mark Heisler, has nothing to do with Kevin Love, and everything to do with Rajon Rondo:
Clearly, this is just a rumor, one of 10,000 we will probably hear before the draft begins. Still, as I discussed just last week, the Boston Celtics have worked out a healthy number of points guards heading up to today, so the idea that Danny Ainge may trade his newly-appointed captain is not far fetched, at all. Adding to the drama is the fact that Marcus Smart appears to be convinced that there is a strong chance he will be drafted by the Boston Celtics:
Marcus Smart says that he believes the Celtics really liked his workout and that he feels the team could select him tomorrow night.

Interesting, no? If the Celtics could somehow acquire the 8th pick from the Sacramento Kings, it is conceivable that Boston could use the 6th pick on Smart, the 8th on Aaron Gordon, and the 17th on . . . well, obviously it gets a little tougher to predict who will still be available at this point.
Still, Smart, Gordon and another solid player would make for one hell of a 2014 NBA Draft for the Boston Celtics, right? Discuss!
