NBA Trade Rumors: Is Jeff Green Atlanta-Bound?

We’re ten days away from the February 20 trade deadline, which means we have ten days of insane NBA trade rumors to sift through, Boston Celtics fans!

Today, talks are heating up concerning shooting forward Jeff Green, the one member of the Boston Celtics I am nearly 100% certain will be gone by the time the deadline has come and gone.   Yesterday, Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News fired these out via Twitter:

This doesn’t seem to be a trade that the Atlanta Hawks would benefit from, in my opinion.   Sure, Green averages more points per game (16.3  to Carroll’s 10.4), and rebounds nearly as much, but Green is also terribly inconsistent, prone to take himself right out of games.  Carroll, on the other hand, is a solid defender at the 3 and a high-energy guy who has steadily gotten better every year.  Carroll is also set to make only $2.4 million next season, compared to Green’s $9.2 million.

I understand the Celtics would like to continue shedding some contracts, and from I have read on some of the Hawks fans sites Carroll is a popular player who would quickly endear himself to the Boston faithful,  so it wouldn’t be a terrible move on the Boston side of things.  Still, I have a hard time believing that Atlanta would agree to such a deal.  As far as trade rumors go, I would label this scenario, “Highly unlikely.”  Even so, expect to hear an awful lot more of Jeff Green’s name being tossed around the next week and a half!
