Well, Donte, it was fun while it lasted. Just about a month ago the Celtics traded Fab Melo, a player drafted with the 22nd overall pick in 2012, to the Memphis Grizzlies for Donte Greene. Today hoopshype announced via twitter that Greene will be waived by the Celtics and will go play in China.
Agent Chris Grier-Luchey tells HoopsHype the Celtics are waiving forward Donte Greene, who will sign with a club in China.

The Grizzlies cut ties with Melo not too long after the trade was made and now the same is being done with Grenne. Grenne’s salary is non-guaranteed so it won’t hurt the Celtics in any way financially. Now their roster count is down to 18 players with Greene being waived.
What really hurts the Celtics here is that Fab Melo didn’t pan out. For a first round draft choice to not be on the roster for the next season’s training camp is pretty absurd. It sets the Celtics back a bit–especially with Jared Sullinger’s situation. We’ll see if the Celtics try to add anymore players before camp starts in a few weeks.
