Brad Stevens Writes a Letter to Celtics Alumni

When Brad Stevens first signed on as the Celtics new head coach he said that he was instantly captivated by the history and tradition of the organization. He said that looking in the rafters at the championship banners that the Celtics organization has was captivating to him, and its clear that Stevens would like to bring at least one more to that total.

To do that, Stevens wants the help of every Boston Celtics player who has ever put on the green uniform. Stevens wants the Celtics alumni to come out and support the Celtics as they rebuild back to their former glorious days.

Below is a copy of the letter that Stevens wrote to Celtics alum:

I am truly humbled and honored to assume the responsibilities of head coach of the Boston Celtics. The Celtics’ mystique, history, culture and tradition speaks for itself. There is nothing else like it in all of professional sports.

At the press conference announcing my hiring, I was in awe looking up at the 17 championship banners. I am first and foremost a fan and admirer of the Boston Celtics and what has been accomplished by each of you.

On behalf of the Boston Celtics management, staff and players, I write you to come around any time. Please know that you are cordially welcome to attend our practice sessions, home games at the TD Garden, games when we are on the road and Celtics events in our community.

I look forward to meeting you in the near future. Continued success and well wishes.

Brad Stevens

This is pretty cool, if you ask me. On Tuesday, Kenny Anderson revealed that Stevens had sent something out to all of the Boston Celtics former players.

This was, indeed, a class act by Brad Stevens. The Celtics have some of the most storied history and these players are apart of it. For Stevens to invite them to be apart of the future is something that every team needs to have done.

Hopefully they come out and support what Stevens and the Celtics are doing. This could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
