NBA Trade Rumors: Kevin Garnett Agrees to be Dealt to Brooklyn Nets

This deal will not be official until July 10th, but the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets have agreed, in principle, to send Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets for three first round picks, Gerald Wallace, Keith Bogans and Kris Humphries.

Adrian Wojnarowski has been on this from the jump. Its actually surprising that both sides have come to an agreement so quickly. Take a look:

So there you have it, ladies and gents. It seems like the big three era is officially over. We were holding on to the last two pieces of it in Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, but now that they’re gone there’s really nothing left outside of Rondo.

I fully expect Rondo to be on the table for contending teams. By the team the Celtics will be good again, Rondo may be entering his 30’s. Right now this team is in bad shape and will have to endure the rebuilding process. We’ll see how things work out there, but first we need to take in that its actually over.

We should be forever gracious for what Kevin Garnett and especially Paul Pierce gave to this organization. Pierce had his ups and downs with management and the NBA as a whole, but its been a pleasure watching him mature into a surefire Hall of Famer and a champion of champions.

The same can be said for Garnett. The defense and mentality that he brought to the Celtics was invaluable and will never be forgotten. However, all things must come to an end, and it seems as if it was time for this to end as well. I’d love to hold onto it as much as the next person, but we can’t.

Still, cherishing the moments that we had will be more than enough. Good luck to those two in Brooklyn.
