The Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks have swapped positions in recent weeks. The Celtics were the sixth seed looking to move up in the conference and the Hawks dropped down to the 7th seed after an overtime loss to the Boston Celtics. Now, the tables have turned. The Celtics had a five game losing streak and if not for Jeff Green coming through in the clutch, they’d have tied their season high losing streak of six games.
Kevin Garnett is likely going to be out for another week or so and the Celtics are reeling to keep their position while staying healthy. The Hawks are coming off of a game where they demolished the Toronto Raptors and are now essentially playing for the 4th seed possibly. With the Hawks already clinching a playoff spot after their win against the Raptors, they’ll just be looking to move up. They’re tied with the Bulls right now, but they’re still 6th in the conference because the Bulls own the tiebreaker.
They’re only 2.5 games behind the Brooklyn Nets for the fourth seed in the conference as well. They’ve got a lot to play for and will bring their best to the TD Garden tonight as they face the Boston Celtics.
In the last two games that these teams have played this season, both went into overtime periods. The Hawks won the first one and the Celtics won the most recent game earlier in the month. Its always a wild ride when these teams suit up against each other so we should expect that again.
