Kevin Garnett Out With Lower Adductor Strain: Will Not Play Tonight

Within the last few minutes, the Boston Celtics announced that Kevin Garnett will not play after being diagnosed with a lower adductor strain. This might be the reason why he’s been off the last few games, and hasn’t been as dominant as in weeks past.

There is no official word as to whether he will play Monday night against the Miami Heat. It would be a significant blow to the team if he can’t play for a few games, but having a healthy Kevin Garnett for the playoffs is more important.

Jeff Green will get the start tonight for Boston. Last time Green shared the starting lineup duties with Paul Pierce, he had his best game in a Celtics uniform scoring 31 points in a blowout win against the Phoenix Suns.

It would have been debatable to have Garnett play tonight even if he was healthy. The Bobcats did rout the Celtics in the last meeting, but if Boston takes care of business tonight they should be fine without their Hall of Famer power forward.
