According to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe, Danny Ainge doesn’t think there is a great chance that the Boston Celtics make any moves before 3 pm on February 21st.
Ainge said its unlikely that the Celtics will get a deal done before the trade deadline.

However, Danny Ainge has been known to bluff now and again, and there are some reasons as to why Celtics fans should take his comment with a grain of salt.
A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE is reporting that the Celtics might consider waiving Leandro Barbosa to make roster space for a possible mid-season acquisition.

Boston has already made space on the roster after cutting Kris Joseph a few months ago, and they left a roster spot open for a possible free agent before the season began. With all the trade rumors, one might speculate that Danny Ainge could be looking to receive more players in return for Paul Pierce, or Kevin Garnett if he, (Garnett) should waive his no trade clause which he said he wouldn’t.
The Celtics also signed Terrence Williams to a 10 day contract, which is very interesting. He’s not a point guard, and is better suited at the small forward or shooting guard positions.
At this point, when it comes to trade rumors or Danny Ainge saying that a deal is unlikely, take everything with a grain of salt. When the rumor mill is this active, it’s hard to tell who’s telling the truth and who isn’t. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the next 48 hours. All I can say is, buckle your seat belts, this could get wild as we get closer to 3 pm on Thursday.
