Knicks point guard Chauncey Billips injured his leg in the closing seconds of the come from behind Celtics win over the New York Knicks on Sunday night.
Doctors have initially diagnosed Billups with a strained knee and thigh muscle, however, more will be known on Monday when they are able to run more tests and as he receives treatment.
Said Billups: “I went to the basket and, as I took off on my leg it just kind of buckled on me, I really don’t have a clue [if he'll be sidelined]. I’m in a lot of pain right now, but that’s to be expected.”
The Knicks are no strangers to playing without their star point guard, but a team with such a short bench cannot expect to lose anyone at this point of the season, let alone one of their better players.
Veteran guard Anthony Carter is expected to pick up the minutes should Billups not be able to go on Tuesday night in game 2.
