The Celtics cruised to a 122-102 victory tonight over the Toronto Raptors marking a season high in points scored and marking the 3,000th victory in franchise history.
The night belonged to Luke Harangody, Harangody picked a good time to land his first career double double scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Harangody was a spark off the bench the Celtics needed on a sloppy night. The Raptors refusal to play defense would at times lull the Celtics out of their game and into trouble. Doc Rivers pulled guard Rajon Rondo in the third quarter as the star committed his sixth turnover. Rondo at times plays to the ability of his opponent. Most times he plays up to their ability, but there are times, like tonight, where he’ll play down to a team’s ability.
Paul Pierce chipped in with 20 and Ray Allen added 17, but the night belonged to Harangody. The 17 points are nice, but the 11 rebounds are worth so much more to the team. The Celtics have enough scorers, what they lack is someone reliable to rebound the ball. Glen Davis is second on the team in RPG behind KG, but only has 18 rebounds in the four games since the injury to KG.
The Celtics travel to Chicago tomorrow and return home to face the Rockets on Monday where they’ll anticipate the return of Kevin Garnett.
