The C’s dropped a heart breaker to the New Orleans Hornets in a New Year’s Eve matinee game on Friday. With multiple lead changes in the final quarter, the Celtics could not put away the surging Hornets to escape with the W. Ray Allen rimmed out a last second shot attempt that would have tied the game. The Celtics have been hobbled by injuries and have dropped 3 out their last 4 games after winning 14 straight.

Chris Paul led all scorers with 20 points and Ray Allen led the Celtics with 18. Rajon Rondo was a game time decision and decided not to play, he’ll be another GTD when the Celtics travel Toronto to play the Raptors on Sunday.

The next 5 games for the Celtics feature: the Kings, Raptors x2, Timber wolves and Bulls. Four out of five games against some of the weaker teams in the NBA is an opportunity for the Celtics to rack up some victories without some of their key players.
