Paul Pierce participated in practice today, and is looking forward to playing in the game tomorrow night in Detroit against the Pistons. Via NBA Yahoo Sports:
Pierce practiced with the team on Monday and said he expected to play Tuesday in Detroit against the Pistons.
Pierce said it was difficult watching his teammates drop those games without him and hopes the Celtics can get back on track on the road, where they have a better record this season than on their home court.
Doesn’t that last statement sound familiar? That sounds exactly like what Kevin Garnett said while he was out. If these players are bummed watching the team struggle, they should take that same feeling coming back into the lineup, and push the team to win, instead of allowing the team to slip back into the lack of confidence and focus. Then again, I dont think it is either Pierce, nor KG who is lacking any focus, and they are becoming frustrated with the rest of the team.
In roster news, Michael Finley has been waived by the San Antonio Spurs. This just puts another name out on the market for the Celtics to look at with their 2 open roster spots. This was the type of thing we were expecting when the Celtics let go of Lester Hudson early on, and traded away three players to pick up 2. It left the question open for any names available late in the season for the C’s to easily pick up. Finley is old, yes, but he is also a decent shooter. This certainly wouldn’t solve any issues, but would be a decent pick up, who I can’t see playing too many minutes.
