Doc Rivers: The Doctor is Missing

The Celtics have reached a point in time where they need all the practice they can get. With injuries affecting three-fifths of the Celtics starting lineup, the Celtics need to work together in practice to get use to playing with a group of players that they really hasn’t played together a lot. Now is the time when players and coaches need to come together to make the best out of their available practice time.

So why am I mentioning all this? According to Chris Forsberg, writer for ESPN Boston, Doc Rivers missed out on today’s practice in Waltham, Ma. This is not huge news, and I am not worried about it one bit, but I thought it was news worth reporting.

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers was not present for Monday’s practice session at the Sports Authority Training Center at HealthPoint.

According to the team, Rivers was attending to a personal matter and was expected to be back Tuesday before the Celtics travel to Miami for the start of a three-game road trip on Wednesday.

Associate head coach Tom Thibodeau led the Celtics through practice and is expected to address the media following the session.

I can only imagine that Doc is off at a personal gym getting ready for his yearly race against the team (I’m joking). Again, nothing to worry about, Tom Thibodeau is a genius and I’m sure he handled the practice very well. The team will practice tomorrow in Waltham and then hop on a plane for a Friday night game against the Miami Heat.
