AT&T Center – San Antonio, Texas
8:00 PM Tip on TNT
It just so happens the Celtics are hitting teams that are currently on streaks. Tonight, in San Antionio, the Celtics who are on a 5 game winning streak, will be taking on the Spurs who have a 5 game win streak of their own. Tonight, just like Tuesday night, one team is going to have to settle for a 1 game losing streak instead. The Spurs come in looking to push their win column to double digits as they are 9-6, while the Celtics look to build on their 14-4 start.
A couple of key matchups for the night will be Pierce on Jefferson, and Rondo on Tony Parker. The renewed matchup between Jefferson and Pierce from the days when Jefferson was a Net will be fun to watch tonight. Jefferson can still score, yet has not been as big of an asset to the Spurs as has been originally thought. As for Rondo and Parker, it is just another night with a good point guard battle. Parker has had a couple of games missed due to injury, but when he plays, he is a scoring machine. Rondo will have to stay in front and respect his jumper, but moreso his ability to drive and get the shot up and in.
Tonight could be a good battle between the two benches, both of which are deep. The Spurs can bring in Ginobili, Bonner, and Finley, all of whom are great scorers. Bonner will live and die by the three, while Finley is good from deep, but it is not his only weapon. Ginobili is an all around player on defense and offense. Our bench will have to prove they are who we thought they would be, and out play the oppositions bench.
The game should be good as we will get to see which veteran team is out matched. Sure, it may get boring at times (atleast when the Spurs have the ball), but just wait a minute and on the other end you will see a Rondo to KG alley oop, and that should make everything better. 3-0 on this road trip is the goal tonight, then the C’s will have the Oklahoma City Thunder waiting for them tomorrow night to finish it off against a completely different team.
