Madison Square Garden

1 pm Tip

The Boston Celtics will travel just down the road to play the New York Knicks today at 1 pm on CSNNE. The Knicks are coming off back to back wins and stand at 3-9, while the Celtics are looking to get back on track after the heartbreaker the other night to the Magic.

The Knicks bring out a very weak lineup, yet one that tends to give the Celtics fits on the road. Al Harrington and Nate Robinson are known for having big shots against the Celtics. When Harrington gets matched up with Pierce, he takes the matchup and uses it for motivation and focus, which makes his play much better than usual. Nate Robinson is just a tough matchup all around as he is quick and can make random shots from anywhere.

For personal matchups, the premier matchup may be Perk on Lee. David Lee doesn’t look like your average center. He doesn’t look tough at all, in fact he looks like a pushover. The thing is he puts up points, and if Perkins can shut him down, that closes off their only source for an inside game. Another matchup is Rondo on Chris Duhon. Duhon doesn’t score the ball well, so it should be reason for Rondo to come up with steals as he is helping out and roaming around. Also, Rondo should be able to expose the weakness in Duhons defensive game. I hope today especially, Rondo makes it a habit to get to the rim.

The Celtics need to use this game as a springboard to get them going for the remainder of this month and into December. Going into the next month, the C’s need to be playing at the very top of their game. They will have very few home games in December, in fact 10 out of 14 will be on the road. With that, they need to have their swagger back before that, not in an attempt to find it while on a road trip. Today is a good day to do that against a team who doesn’t play defense, and who can be dominated. Everything lines up in favor for the Celtics. The Knicks are on the 2nd game of a back to back, we got our 1 days rest, and the Knicks are a very subpar team. With a statement win today, all bodes well for us coming home for the rest of the week to play Philadelphia and Toronto.

Today we are going to be having a live pre, half, and post game chat. Feel free to drop a few lines in the chat at any time.
