Celtics Cavs Tonight!

This is a big one.  A big fig one.  Ooey gooey, rich and chewy inside.  Golden cakey, tender flakey outside.  Wrap the inside in the outside.  Is it good? Darn tootin’!  It’s the big, Fig Newton.  Darn tootin’ this is a big game.  KG or no KG.

Their Eastern Conference semifinal-round series came down to the final minute of Game Seven.  Given the way the 2008-09 season is shaping up, these two teams seem destined to meet again in the Conference Finals.  Like my main man George McFly always says, “I’m your density.  I mean… your destiny.”

And if destiny holds true, home court advantage will be big.  No, huge.  No, tremendous, gargantuan, monumental.  Delonte West:  “It’s going to be a big heavyweight bout.’’  Think Ali-Frazier.  Think Holmes-Norton.  Think Hagler-Hearns.  I know, middleweights, but still.  But still, think those there.

Our beloved Celtics have lost three of their last four home games.  They had to struggle to get past the Indiana Pacers for their only win.  Even so, the home team has won the last seven regular-season meetings in this series.  Even so, the home team has won all seven close encounters in last year’s Semifinal.  Even so, Cleveland has lost eight straight times in Boston since a 93-88 victory at the Garden back on April 17, 2006.  The key to tonight’s game?  Kendrick Perkins.

Perk must do his job and hang tough with Ilgauskas.  Zydrunas Ilgauskas.  Make sure you spell it right.  Mike Bibby called Perkins “soft.”  Mike Bibby said a lot of things.  Where is Mike Bibby now?  Perk cannot be soft tonight.  Perk will have to get physical.  Let’s get physical, physical.  I wanna get physical.  Perk will have to get physical and keep a booty on the brother at all times.  He will have to do his job so other folks can do theirs.  He will have to do his job so other folks can free up and help with LeBron.  Get your popcorn ready!
