Like my main Arthur Conan Doyle always says, “Whenever you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” What remained last night was indded the Truth. What remained last was Paul Pierce.
Last night, Paul Pierce’s go-ahead two with twenty seconds left on the clock, proved to be the winner winner chicken dinner in New Jersey. Add another chapter to legend that is Paul Pierce. Another legend, the Legend, once said, “In Boston they always talk about how many championships you’ve won, so I think it’s very important for Paul to win one if he wants to be put up there with the great ones.” Well, he’s won one now. He’s on his way to another one. He’s up there with the great ones.
Paul Pierce has come a long way baby! A long way from being the best player on the worst team. A long way from ripping off his shirt against the Indiana Pacers. A long way from missing those two free throws against the New Jersey Nets. For too long Pierce had been underrated. For too long Pierce has gone unadulated. For too long his legacy as a Celtic has been debated. It is finally his time. His time is now.
Paul Pierce has paid his dues. Time after time. He’s done his sentence, but committed no crime. Bad mistakes. He’s made a few. He’s had his share of sand kicked in his face. But he’s come through. He came through again last night. And that’s the double Truth, Ruth!
Roll Celtics, Roll!
