With the Boston Celtics searching for an NBA Championship, they need to convince one of the all time greats to help them achieve their goal.

The Boston Celtics do not have enough scoring off the bench to take pressure off of the starters. That's a topic covered on Hardwood Houdini nearly daily. Sometimes multiple times a day. The second unit is that much of a concern.

Luckily, the league has endless ex-veterans sitting on the sidelines who can help. The right man to come in and give the team the best scoring off option the bench possible, and someone whose standing in the league somehow cratered in his final active seasons despite no discernible drop in skill, is former 10x NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony.

While Anthony did announce his retirement during the offseason it is very likely the C’s can convince him to play as they are in the hunt to win the title this season.

Carmelo Anthony was recently linked to the Boston Celtics

Anthony was linked was linked to the team last year. Bleacher Report's Doric Sam stated that the Celtics could give Melo the best chance of winning that NBA Championship that has eluded him in his legendary career.

“The No. 3 overall pick in 2003, Anthony is still chasing the NBA championship that has eluded him throughout his nearly 20 years in the league," Sam wrote. "Joining the Celtics could give him his best chance at competing for a title as his career is winding down.”

While this was a year ago it still holds true today. C’s have an even better roster that can allow him to be in the best position to win and cement his hall-of-fame career.

The last time Anthony played a full season was the 2021-2022 season where he was a key bench player for the Lakers. He shot 44% from the field and over 37% from three. He can provide the Celtics with that type of offense and give Tatum and Brown some well-needed rest without losing anything on the offensive side of the ball.

Melo can come in and be the Sixth Man who has the offense run through him. The impact he can make would be instant -- since he can just prioritize what he does best, which is scoring the basketball.
