Boston Celtics player #2 that’d need to be included in a Donovan Mitchell trade: Grant Williams

Speaking of playing their way into ‘asset territory’, we have a knock-down shooter in Grant Williams that’d fit perfectly in the Utah Jazz frontcourt…assuming the team wouldn’t want to just tear it all down completely.

Williams already plays as a glove fit next to Robert Williams. If Rudy Gobert remained on the Jazz after a hypothetical Donovan Mitchell trade, it’d make sense to test the fit with the similarly stingy rim-protector in Utah.

Gobert has attempted nine 3-pointers in his career, making none. Having Williams next to him would make for a tough team to guard against on the block in post-up situations no matter who is on you.

The brilliance of the juxtaposition would certainly throw off most opposing offensive players, and of course, Williams’ 3-point prowess–good for a top seven mark in the league right now on over three attempts per game–masks the biggest deficiency the ‘Stifle Tower’ possesses on the more glamorous side of the ball.

As a holder of a paltry (by NBA standards) salary still on the rookie scale, Williams would be a Mitchell trade throw-in that would sting for Cs fans and be stealthily rewarding for the Jazz.
