Boston Celtics: 3 offseason trades that could shake up Eastern Conference
Why the Brooklyn Nets do it
Well silly, to dominate the entire NBA with the most talented trio in the history of the game of course. This would be the Thanos snap Boston Celtics fans must hope and pray never happens.
While the Nets are short on assets after moving mountains to land James Harden for about a year and a month, they can try to package 3x NBA All-Star Ben Simmons, former 3-point king Joe Harris, potential future 3-point king Cam Thomas, and a pair of future draft picks to land the perfect third star to the Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving pairing.
Donovan Mitchell, who is more of an off-ball shooter than James Harden, replaces the beard’s scoring punch in a way that steps less on the toes of Durant and Irving.
Former Net Bojan Bogdanovic is a step down from Harris, and in time, Thomas too, but he adds a bulky shooter capable of defending 4’s to ease the physical toll on Durant.
Why the Utah Jazz do it
If Donovan Mitchell wants out, the Jazz could rebuild and hope by the time 2028 rolls around, they’ll be in a position to trade assets to land a star or use the pick in the NBA Draft to select one out of college, the G-League, or abroad.
Ben Simmons and Rudy Gobert definitely sounds like a lockdown defensive duo, though, so maybe the Jazz won’t be down for long, if at all, after such a trade.
