Why the New York Knicks do it

After a fan-less 2020-21 season resulted in an NBA postseason appearance and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, packed MSG crowds were treated to disappointment after disappointment in 2021-22.

The postseason won’t be a feature on the calendar this year for #Knickstape die-hards, and ‘BING BONG’ has been subtly moved away from being associated with this hapless franchise.

Anthony Davis is probably not an immediate turnaround, but the Knicks fanbase would certainly act like he is. Then again, who knows? Maybe he could thrive alongside R.J. Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, and the other young studs in the Knicks rotation. That sounds like an imposing defensive unit to me.

Why the Los Angeles Lakers do it

If this deal was executed following the previous deal listed, the Lakers would have a sneakily formidable group smack dab in the middle of their primes.

Collin Sexton, Evan Fournier, Lauri Markkanen, and Julius Randle is 4/5ths of a pretty offensively stout lineup.
