Boston Celtics buyout option No. 2) DeAndre Jordan

While the majority of buzz pertaining to Boston’s buyout plans indicate that Stevens and co. will be prioritizing shooting more than anything else (a smart move, indeed), with the fact that they have 3 roster spots available, perhaps one of them they could afford to use on addressing another area in need of bolstering which, of course, is their overall size.

The tallest player currently on the C’s roster is Al Horford who stands at 6-9.

While the team’s overall lacking height hasn’t had much of an impact on their effectiveness while on the court, it could still be a worthwhile idea to consider adding some taller talents to the roster and, should they be interested in doing this, DeAndre Jordan could be a rather realistic option to consider.

Already labeled as a candidate to be cut loose prior to the start of the new year by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the big man could easily be sent packing by the Los Angeles Lakers should they opt to partake in the buyout market themselves which, in all likelihood, they will.

Though he most certainly is past his prime, Jordan, an All-Star back in 2017, still could provide several positive attributes for a ball club, especially ones that could use size, rim protection, and, simply, extra depth within the frontcourt.

By no means has 2021-22 been the 33-year-old’s finest hour (4.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, just shy of a block per game) but he’s still proven to be an effective lob threat around the rim who can also pull down boards and provide solid effort on defense (leads LA in defensive rating).

While we fully support the front office looking to bring aboard players who can help space the floor and improve their long-range shooting, should they be interested in rounding out their big man depth, DeAndre Jordan could be an intriguing name for them to consider.
