Boston Celtics buyout option No. 3) Goran Dragic

Easily the biggest get in this year’s buyout market (though nothing’s official, it’s highly likely he’ll wind up a free agent at some point this year), Goran Dragic would be a player who could scratch quite a number of itches for the Boston Celtics if acquired.

While this team did just acquire the likes of Derrick White at the deadline to bolster their backcourt, being that the modern-day NBA is heavily influenced by how well a team’s guards perform, one could make the argument that, though they could use some extra wing depth as well, they shouldn’t shy away from pursuing another guard, especially someone of the 35-year-old’s style of play.

Throughout his 14-year career, the former All-Star has made a name for himself as being a trusty floor general and a long-range sniper which, especially in regard to this latter skill set, are aspects that the Boston could certainly use more of within their lineup.

While he may not have been that type of difference-maker we’ve been describing during his short-lived stint with the Raptors (eight points and 1.2 assists per game on 28 percent shooting from deep), he is only a year removed from averaging 13.4 points and 4.4 assists per game on 37 percent shooting from beyond the arc whilst predominantly coming off the pine (a role he’d once again be taking on with the Celtics).

On top of all this, as we stated in our previous piece discussing why he’d be an ideal buyout option for Boston, Goran Dragic has already proven capable of being able to contribute at a high rate whilst running alongside other ball-dominant stars such as Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo during his time in Miami, thus making us believe that he could easily wind up replicating a similar type of efficiency if brought on to the C’s.
