The Boston Celtics are one of, if not the hottest team in the NBA since the calendar year flipped to 2022, having gone on a 17-5 run during this span that includes their current win-streak of eight straight wins.

During this run the team as a collective have managed to find their rhythm and, in the process, the front office managed to add a few extra serviceable commodities during this year’s trade season which was headlined by the move that landed them Derrick White from the San Antonio Spurs.

Of course, with their endeavors leading up to and at February 10th’s deadline, Brad Stevens and co. wound up opening up a whopping five roster sports, two of which have subsequently been filled by the likes of Luke Kornet and Sam Hauser.

Still finding themselves with three slots available, it’s more than likely that the Celtics will be monitoring the buyout market closely from now until March 1st (the deadline for playoff eligibility) to complete their 15-man roster.

There are bound to be several players parting from their current ball clubs by means of buyout, many of whom have the moniker of “former All-Star” attached to their name, and, of these individuals, there are 3 that the C’s could wind up pursuing:

Boston Celtics buyout option No. 1) Paul Millsap

Pickings will undoubtedly be slim when it comes to former All-Stars hitting the buyout market this year but, should Paul Millsap wind up becoming available, he’d be an entertaining veteran worth considering a look by this Boston Celtics front office.

While he may not be the 4x All-Star he once was, these past few years have shown that the 37-year-old is still capable of providing strong defensive play (particularly when in the post), natural rebounding skills, and, when given his fair share of opportunities, floor spacing for his respective employer.

Since 2019, Millsap finds himself logging averages of 16.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and just over a block per 75 possessions on 48 percent shooting from the floor and 37 percent shooting from deep.

While his per-game numbers may have tapered off a bit since leaving the Denver Nuggets and joining forces with the Brooklyn Nets (3.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and half a block), one could make the argument that, aside from him obviously being in the twilight years of his career, his lacking minutes have been a sizeable factor in his diminished production.

A player the franchise was strongly interested in pursuing just over two seasons ago, the seasoned power forward now finds himself located in Philadelphia after being packaged into the James Harden deal at the deadline and, though as or right now it appears the Sixers intend to try things out with him in tow, a lot can change within the next few weeks.

Should he wind up departing from the City of Brotherly Love, Brad Stevens should strongly consider pursuing him.
