Boston Celtics dud: Dennis Schroder

After sustaining a thigh contusion Monday night against these same Pacers, it was announced prior to Wednesday’s rematch that Marcus Smart would be held out of the contest which, in turn, thrust Dennis Schroder into the starting lineup to serve as lead guard for the Boston Celtics.

In his return to the first five lineup after a five-game break, the 28-year-old managed to thrive in his 34 minutes of action.

What was most impressive about Schroder’s performance was that he managed to excel whilst serving off-ball which, historically has proven to be somewhat of a struggle for the veteran.

Ceding ample set-up touches and walk-ups to Tatum and Brown ultimately didn’t wind up infringing on his scoring output as the point guard wound up dropping third highest point mark of the entire game with 23 to go along with three assists, two boards, and a steal on a highly efficient 64 percent shooting from the floor and an unbelievable 80 percent shooting from deep.

An outing such as this is exactly what many believed the C’s would be getting on a nightly basis when they landed the ninth-year pro this past summer.

It was truly a fantastic overall performance from Dennis Schroder, both from an individual and team-fit perspective, and we hope to see plenty more nights like these moving forward.
