Boston Celtics dud: Grant Williams

A hot start to the season has only gone on to dwindle back on down to the mean as the games have rolled along and since the change of the calendar from 2021 to 2022 Grant Williams just has not been able to re-capture his earlier success.

Wednesday was just another example of his recent struggles despite still receiving quite a nice chunk of playing time. In 22 minutes on the night, the third-year forward would go on to put up a rather quiet stat-line of just three points on 1-2 shooting from the floor and 0-1 shooting from deep.

Now yes, while he did also manage to snag two steals and even a block during the contest he ultimately struggled to stay out of foul trouble against his clearly more physically dominant assignments, logging four in total, tieing him for the most on the night despite registering the least amount of playing time of the team’s core rotational players.

Since January 2nd, Williams has only managed to put up just 3.7 points per contest on just 21 percent shooting from deep, which is worrisome considering the fact that his 3-point stroke was the main reason for why he carved out such a nice role for himself within the rotation to begin with.

Hopefully he can find his shooting rhythm soon, for the Boston Celtics will certainly need it during this challenging upcoming two-game stretch against some of the league’s top-flight teams.
