Free agent target from the Golden State Warriors: Kelly Oubre

Kelly Oubre is a very strange player.

He saw great success while as a member of the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns and then was surprisingly traded away to the Oklahoma City Thunder last offseason.

His time in OKC was virtually non-existent as he was almost immediately traded to the Golden State Warriors to pair alongside Stephen Curry.

His career with the Warriors was underwhelming, to say the least. He had a very slow start to the season and never really got back into his rhythm. Efficiency-wise, he took a huge step back from where he was in Phoenix. The guy that was brought in to help the Warriors compete with Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and James Wiseman just didn’t help much at all.

His year in Golden State looks like it could have just been a fluke.

A change of scenery could very easily help him get back to the level he was playing at prior to the trade. With the Boston Celtics, he won’t be expected to be the number one or two option, which is perfect for him.

Whether he would crack the starting lineup is unknown but, should he not, he would be a great scorer off the bench on a team that is built to compete.

Oubre’s talent is unquestionable and he very well could have just been a victim of circumstance.

As a coach, Brad Stevens is one of the best player developers in the game today; as an executive, he may still have that ability.

Bringing in Oubre would be a sure-fire success for the Boston Celtics.
