Boston Celtics potential next point guard #2: Chris Paul

It may not seem like Chris Paul has anything else on his mind right now other than winning his first NBA championship and the first title in the history of the Phoenix Suns franchise. Doing what Steve Nash couldn’t accomplish in the desert would certainly make CP3 a legend, but so would putting the Boston Celtics back in the lead for championships.

Paul recently turned down his player option for next season, and if the Suns don’t break through and win a championship–or even worse, lose to the shorthanded Denver Nuggets in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs–perhaps he can head to the Eastern Conference for the first time in his career.

So far, Paul has played with five teams, all in the west. While the east has traditionally been known as the “least-ern conference”, the times are a-changing. The Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks, and Milwaukee Bucks represent a stronger crop of teams than the Suns, Nuggets, Utah Jazz, and Dallas Mavericks/LA Clippers.

If Paul wants a challenge, joining a Cs team that has been demonized by the dastardly Kyrie Irving and restoring their place at the top of the NBA food chain would be a big one.

Paul is one of the league’s fiercest competitors though, so it is possible.
