Player to pursue using veteran’s minimum No. 1) Courtney Lee

The idea of the Boston Celtics pursuing Courtney Lee is nothing new to us here at HH. While he’s certainly not the “sexiest” of names currently riding on the free agency train, he is an experienced wing who has impressive shooting and defensive capabilities.

For his career, the 34-year-old boasts averages of 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and a steal per game on 45 percent shooting from the floor, and 39 percent shooting from deep.

Recently, Bleacher Report went about and listed Lee as the 17th best remaining free agent in the NBA, stating:

"Courtney Lee may now be in the phase of his career that many veterans eventually reach. He isn’t likely to log many minutes, but his experience could be valuable from a chemistry standpoint."

Though by no means a star talent, the 12-year-veteran has made a name for himself as being a solid 3-and-D player who brings a team-first mentality and leadership. The Celtics could certainly use for floor spacing within the second unit — ranked 28th in the league in 3-point percentage (31.8) — and, coupled with his connection to Kemba Walker (teammates in Charlotte), the signing could make a lot of sense for the shooting guard and an intriguing low-cost option for the C’s heading into the 2020-21 campaign.
