Rising Star No. 1) John Collins

Bleacher Report recently listed the Collins as a player the team could target this offseason. Zach Buckley’s reasoning isn’t too different than what the Houdini has been saying this season after learning the Atlanta Hawks weren’t bullish on the idea of ponying up for the Wake Forest product earlier this season:

"The bouncy big man is extension-eligible this offseason, and the Hawks are hesitant to give him “significant money,” per The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner. If Boston doesn’t mind biting that bullet, it adds a rim-protector, floor-spacer and screen-setter on the same timeline as Tatum and Brown."

Collins’ price tag isn’t known since the Hawks seem to be unwilling to accept the fact that they are still rebuilding after trading for Clint Capela from the Houston Rockets at the trade deadline in February. That said, it may not cost the Boston Celtics any starters. Considering the fact that he is significantly more mobile than any center the team has had in the Brad Stevens era, the C’s can unlock a new element to the offense.
