Potential free agent signings

Make no mistake about it: just because the Boston Celtics have plenty of bodies at the center position, doesn’t mean they won’t be active on the free agent market. This off-season, there are several intriguing names that could go for short-term deals at below market value due to the current state of the world and the salary cap ramifications that will arise from it.

You could pencil in Theis to either starter’s minutes once more or at worst, primary backup minutes at the center position. Enes Kanter‘s role of an offensive specialist seems likely to stick no matter what other bigs are potentially signed.

Everyone else could be out of luck if Danny Ainge brings in any outside talent at the pivot. While Grant Williams could slide down to his more natural power forward position if the C’s bring in an impact free agent such as a Hassan Whiteside or a Tristan Thompson, Robert Williams, Vincent Poirier and, yes, Tacko Fall would all stand to be potentially squeezed off the roster altogether.

Fall is a long-term project, but if the Celtics are all in on the team–which they should be given the contract status of their top stars this off-season can what could happen in future off-seasons–newly signed players could make the road a longer one for Fall.
